Mirabai was only a child of five when she became devoted to Lord Krishna (the Indian God of Love). She loved him with all her heart. So intense was her devotion that it rendered even irate kings and murderous relatives powerless. Her hymns to Krishna, sung to this day, left even the great Mughal emperor Akbar spellbound.
